Aristotle s On The Mind - 1711 Words

Art must be taken as serious as science, discovery, creation and knowledge in the sense of advancement of understanding. Each person is a physical object but each person is someone who thinks and has feelings. Knowledge and understanding is more self-knowledge because of the animated spirit that constitutes our nature. Imagination is used when watching a 2-dimensional film rather than sitting in the audience watching a live performance with everything happening right in front of your eyes. We can clearly say that worthy art directs the mind. Aristotle writes that the aim of tragedy is to bring out the process of releasing emotions of the audience. The diameter should be that the audience could fathom without having a hard time for each part and as a whole. The plot also craves a c entral theme in which the six elements are connected to display the protagonist’s fortune change. The dramatic cause and the likelihood of something happening should be emphasized with the change in the protagonist’s fortune. Tragic incidents are outside the limits of the tragic hero’s control or those incidents are not close to the hero’s characteristics. Therefore the plot is to draw matters of the universe rather than the tragic hero’s connotation. The protagonist is looked as the character that goes through the change. Since Aristotle’s ambition is to awaken empathy and fear through adjustment of the main character, he has to be a symbol that the audience can identify and the predetermined course can cause these feelings of empathy and fear. Aristotle says compassion is enticed by unnecessary disaster, by the bad luck of a man just like us. The possibility of characters on the foundation of the bounds define the perfect protagonist as a man who very well famous and successful but he is not extremely ethical and just someone whose disaster is shown upon and not by sin or immorality but by some mistake of awareness or weakness.
